Yesterday when I took a walk with my son in the nearby fields, thinking that I was going to photograph some Almond blossoms, I was surprised to find that our native red anemones, that everyone just calls poppies, are also in bloom, which is so very exciting every time! Dots of red peeking out from new green growth of Spring is so very lovely, and I know so many of you love getting a glimpse of nature here in Israel, up close and in person, so here we go!
A prickly gorse like plant covers the hilly fields…….and ah yes, delicate red flowers…..
They tend to bloom several together, or singly, but not in tight swathes of color as with say the red flower that is actually a poppy and blooms later in the Spring.
And in the fields close to my home, when there are red poppies there also may be some red cows, nibbling away before sun down. That is it for the red anemones, hoping to get out more this Spring and photograph the fields as new species emerge!
