Cinnamon Roll Cake Pops For The Dessert Bar Are Perfect In A Pinch!

Cinnamon roll cake pops to make in a pinch

Okay dear readers, I'm off sugar and flour entirely so I'm trying to post this fantastic idea for making cinnamon roll cake pops that look like lollipops without really looking too closely at the photos, and with the idea that while certainly I'm not encouraging folks to eat un-healthfully, sometimes you've just gotta bake that cake or make that special dessert for your child's birthday, a special event in school or important family occasion. If you're like me, and you're trying to mend your ways in the sugar department it may just be advisable to skip the baking and just assemble something from bakery bought items……..and that is where this cinnamon roll cake pop idea really shines!

Of course if you love to bake, and especially if you can whip up a healthier version of cinnamon rolls using say spelt, why then go for it! The cinnamon rolls shown here were home baked by a friend of mine, and I just loved the idea so much I had to share it. Keep reading to find out how she made the display stand, an important part of the whole presentation!

Cinnamon Roll Cake Pops So simple
You'll Need:

  • store bought or home baked cinnamon rolls, mini ones could be great too, and are less risky
  • white icing or cinnamon bun glaze, and sprinkles
  • lollipop sticks, or sticks sold as cake pop sticks
  • ribbon
  • a stand of some kind, see description of this one, plus tips below

How To:

Okay, the part where you buy the cinnamon rolls and some lollipop sitcks and dip the tops in icing is pretty straight forward, right? The main question is how are you going to present them? They could truthfully be presented lying down, (the simplest way to go) but standing up makes a huge statement, especially if you have quite a few.

For the standing up effect, the simplest way to go would be to find a vessel that is about 3 inches deep, fill it with kosher salt and stick the cinnamon roll cake pops into the salt. One could also place cake pops in vases filled with styrofoam or kosher salt (be sure to have a number of bags on hand!)

Another idea would be to make a cake pop stand from peg board, or maybe something like that is sold in stores? Think about how large lollipops are often displayed in candy stores……

Another idea is to do as my friend did, which is to make a stepped stand from foam core covered aluminum foil, (or maybe cute contact paper would be better) which does require some assembly time but really made a huge statement on the bar for a school event.

In the end I'd advise going for the simplest solution, and then give yourself a high five for meeting the challenge!
