Drinking Straw Pyramids Passover Craft

Passover Craft Pyramids From Drinking STrawsLooking for a simple craft to add a creative touch to your home this Passover? Look no further, drinking straw pyramids are perfect and right on trend as well. Make them in lovely pastel colors, or get some metallic straws and make elegant versions that would look amazing on your Passover Seder table. Of course you can also use spray paint, I personally try to avoid that whenever possible.

Geometric shapes made with straws look amazing in general, and when you add the pyramid shape to the mix, well hello Passover! There are many many video tutorials out there for making geometric shapes with straws, and I just love the contemporary versions of Himmeli, which are Scandanavian mobiles originally made with real straw. In any case, start with the simple pyramid and take it from there!

You’ll Need:

  • drinking straws, preferably nice thick ones like mine from Ikea
  • wire (can be done with string as well)
  • scissors

How To:

  1. Each pyramid needs 8 pieces, four for the pyramid top, four for the base.
  2. For a tall pyramid, like mine, the top straws need to be an inch or so longer than the base.
  3. Cut the ends of the straws on an angle, the base pieces at 45 degree angles, the top pieces at a steeper angle.
  4. Cut pieces of wire and twist two pieces together to form a plus sign. Insert a straw for top portion on each leg of wire, and then a bottom piece on each leg.
  5. Bend wires and secure by running wires through straws around base and securing by twisting together.

I hope that makes sense, Passover is arriving Friday night and we are now up to our necks in preparations, so gotta run! Happy Passover crafting if you are fortunate to have the time!
