T-Shirt Yarn Is Perfect For Last Minute Succah Decorations

T-Shirt Yarn Feathers In progressI love t-shirt yarn, and guess what, here in my littlish town in Northern Israel a whole huge skein is the same price as a small ball of cotton rope, so I’m going for color this year in the succah! T-shirt yarn is a great way to make large pom poms and tassels or even wall hangings, lamp shades, crocheted doilies, you name it! In case you are wondering what exactly these mop like creations are, well they aren’t finished but interesting nonetheless! They are actually macrame feathers, make in the same way as the macrame leaf I shared previously, but because the t-shirt yarn is quite flimsy I’m contemplating stiffening them…..stay tuned for that one!

My plan is to stiffen them, say with water and glue, leave them to dry for 24 hours or so, and then give them a haircut so they’ll look like the lovely feathers they are truly meant to be.

Wish me luck!  Time is running out, a million guests are coming and our succah isn’t finished yet, with not nearly enough time to do my usual succah decor extravaganza. Hmmmm such is life, but I’m still confident that by not sleeping Saturday night or at least not a full night, somehow it will all come together. It just has to, and so with the help of my kids (and reluctant husband) and whomever else we can recruit we’ll make it to the finish line, maybe panting, but happy that succot has arrived!
