Hello Prague: The Gorgeous Bridges Of Prague

Prague-red-rooves-river-viewAt long last I have found the time to share with you photos of our trip to Prague, which happened LAST Rosh HaShana, for a glorious 9 days! Yes, indeed a whole year ago and I’m just now going over the photos……life is busy and editing photos can happen anytime (unlike somethings that need attention immediately), so just glad that is it finally happening! And I’m thinking that a bit of arm chair travel would be great for everyone right about now, so I’ll be dedicating many posts to sharing photos of our trip.

Truthfully looking at the photos now is so inspiring and I can’t believe we actually visited such a picturesque place. That same feeling was with us during out entire stay, and our jaws were dropping daily as we explored this amazingly picturesque city in the Czech Repubilc. The entire country of Korea seems to have discovered Prague, as that is the third language on signs (yes, really!) but it really doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, given how gorgeous it is, with so much history, and interest, not to mention very inexpensive for those visiting from outside the country. Like any large city, Prague does have its seediness, and one needs to watch out for pick pockets apparently, but other than that it is relatively safe, so I read. As always, do your own research to make sure any destination is suited to your likes and dislikes…..but Prague, ahhhh.

Where to start when sharing photos of such a photogenic adventure is often the question, so I decided to share with you photos of the bridges of Prague, since there are many joining the two majors portions of the central city, and I hope that these will be bridges that lead you to exciting new creative adventures, on canvas paper or in any medium that you enjoy. Just as soon as I finish writing this I’m running to my sketchbook!

Prague-red-rooves-river-viewThe most famous bridge of all, the Charles Bridge, which is a gorgeous gothic creation and very widely photographed. I’ll be sharing photos on the bridge and of the bridge towers next.

Prague-Bridge-with-Prague-CastlePrague was built on two sides of the Vltava river, and this bridge leads to the neighborhood around the Prague castle. The castle is at the top of the photo, and is actually a series of buildings built around a courtyard.

Prague-red-rooves-river-viewView from a walk along the river, where there are all kinds of boats with cafes and bars and of course I always love getting as close to the water as possible!
Prague-red-rooves-river-viewLook at that stone, love it!

Prague-Bridge-With-StatuesA gorgeous bridge at the end of the Jewish quarter, which leads to a park, those stairs in the photo, which we unfortunately did not have the time to visit, or maybe our legs were just too tired from all the walking? I don’t remember exactly, but I guess this just leaves something new to see next time, of course there are many things we did not have time for as our 9 days included a shabbat and two days of Rosh HaShana, which allowed for walking and visiting historic synagogues, but not full out tourist activities……meaning I also did not set foot in a single museum, yikes!
Prague-Bridge-With-StatuesIn some of the amazing tourist info brochures available at the information center in the Old City square, I did read about the metronome sculpture, but couldn’t quite figure out where it was located until Iooked at my photos, and there it is, see it? Yes, something I’ll surely visit next time, when hopefully I get a chance to take the rest of the family to this magical, historic and Jewish laden historic city!

Prague-red-rooves-river-viewWow, this photo was taken from my walk up the many stairs in the mini Eiffel Tower, a must!
Prague-red-rooves-river-viewI am really inspired by that iron railing at the moment, and almost started to draw it, but then realized I needed to post something on the blog first…..

Prague-red-rooves-river-viewWhat can I say, Prague is truly inspiring, and I can’t wait to visit again!

Stay tuned for many many more photos of our visit!
