My First Ever Patchwork Quilt (Baby) In Progress!
Drum roll please, after years and years and years of wanting to make some quilts and of course even purchasing fabric, I have a long last made progress with this little dream: introducing my first ever baby quilt in the making! The only problem at the moment is finding time to finish the next steps, wish me luck, hopefully it won't be another ten years!
So here it is, using fabric that I bought ten years ago for this very purpose, almost can't believe it! So stay tuned as I learn how to quilt and then bind, forntunately I'm starting small, so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult. Of course first I'll need some batting, but I even know where to buy that in our little town, so no excuses here.
I can't say that I'm yet sold on the idea of making huge quilts for the whole family, which is my dream, but maybe if I start with quilts with bigger squares it could go quickly, which is key for me. Okay gotta run, the hanukkah crafts are waiting!

This made me laugh because for a second I imagined you bought the fabric for a particular baby ten years ago and now the baby is ten! Hee. It’s lovely and I adore the first pic with the groovy red clogs.

Well, actually not too far off, I bought this when my baby was one, and now he is eleven! Truthfully I never thought about making baby quilts when my kids were babies, I was just thinking about quilts in general. And now I realize that starting with a baby quilt is a great way to learn the ropes, and since there are no shortage of babies in our neck of the woods, I can always give away the ones that arent quite perfect enough to save…….Thanks so much, yes those red clogs that we picked up in The Netherlands are one of my favorite props!

I love quilting and look forward to seeing how you get on with it. I use to be quite the avid quilter before I became a mom and now I just look forward to the day I have more time to devote to it. Watch out…it can be a real addiction. G-d knows we could use more great, modern Jewish themed patterns out there.

Thanks Dena, great to hear from you! One of my million business ideas is to do a line of Jewish themed fabrics, so if the quilting bug hits, I may just be totally sucked into it! I even looked at some pictures of Quilt Market in Texas and was dreaming of being there with my line, you never know!

Your first quilt is going to be beautiful, Sara. You just might become addicted!

Thanks Pam, Ive already cut up some jeans and am dreaming of a line of quilting fabrics…..and going to try to make my husband a quilt for his birthday since he is out of town….much more doable with big squares than a crocheted version, fingers crossed!
