Crocheted Granny Hexagon Join As You Go Blanket
Once upon a time I shared with you a crocheted hexagon blanket in progress, and somehow never got around to photographing the finished item. So now, three years later, and just in time for your holiday and winter crochet project planning, I present to you the Crccheted Granny Hexagon Join As You Go blanket. This fits a twin bed, but a smaller (and quicker) version would make a fantastic baby blanket. You can do the hexagons as solids, or go for a polka dot look, or both as I've done. One disclaimer: the only reason that I ended up making solid hexagons around the border of the blanket is that I ran out of cream yarn, and since the yarn was from a purchase made in the USA, i decided to just wing it. I'll admit that while I'm happy with the blanket, after all that work, I'm still on the fence regarding the results which is why I very likely never quite got around to photographing it, silly me!
Here is a close up of the pattern, which is really quite fun to crochet, and can initially be a nice take-along crochet project. First you crochet all the circles, and the "join as you go" happens when you crochet the last round of each hexagon. Got it? Of course that part gets a bit tedious, but I think the results are worth it, well at least for a baby blanket size! If my memory serves me, after I finished this blanket I said "never again." But this must be kind of like childbirth, as all of a sudden the idea of crocheting a large blanket seems like fun! Hmmmm.

- Finished Dimensions: Roughtly 134cm x 200 cm
- Number of Rows: 17
- Number of Hexagons Per Row: Either 10 across or 9 across with two half hexagons
- Total Number of Hexagons: 162
- Total Number of Half Hexagons: 16
