Plastic Animal Succulent Pot
Remember those golden giraffe birthday cake toppers from awhile back? Well anything hanging out for too long in my kitchen cabinet is fair game for a remake, so I now present to you golden giraffe succulent holders, which are just perfect to add a little humor to your home decor, or of course for your next party! And yes dear readers, I do realize that the little plant shown in the photo above is not technically a succulent, it is actually a baby from a bird's nest Sanseveira, but since you don't likely have one of those, succulents are the best choice!
And by succulents, what I'm suggesting actually is tiny succulent cuttings, which you may just have right in your very own container garden, or maybe you can beg for a few from a friend or neighbor? These plastic animal succulent pots are simple to make and would be great placed here and there down a long table, though a few important tips are required, so keep reading!
You'll Need:
- plastic animals
- pruning shears, the safest way to go, but only for smaller animals
- gold spray paint
- succulent cuttings
- dirt
How To:
- First cut holes in back of giraffe using pruning shears, one can also use a small saw or possibly a utility knife, but PLEASE be careful. Large animals willl need to be cut with a saw I would think, but can't advise as I have yet to try that!
- Spray paint animals outdoors only, spray paint is very toxic
- Fill hole with dirt and insert succulent cutting.
- For animals that are tall, like giraffes, if using for a party centerpiece, do hot glue the giraffe to some kind of base so it will not be easily knocked over. Hot glue on glass plates comes off easily, so you may want to use white opaque glass plates like the one shown here, or something else. but do make this base a priority.
