Crocheted Dots And Dashes Granny Square Neck Warmer
Winter has finally arrived here in Northern Israel, so let’s celebrate (since we need the rain) with a Crocheted Dots And Dashes neck warmer, composed of just four wagon wheel granny squares! The squares themselves only take about 15 minutes to crochet each (for the experienced crocheter) so I’m guessing one could crochet the entire neck warmer is around 2 hours. Make this stylish and cozy neck warmer in one sitting or crochet the squares as a take-along project, and either way you’ll be enjoying your new creation in no time.

Dot And Dashes Crocheted Granny Square Neck Warmer Pattern
You’ll Need:
- yarn of choice to use with a 5mm/H hook, in 2 colors
- a beautiful ribbon to match
- Wagon Wheel Granny Square free pattern, HERE
To Start:
Step 1: Crochet 4 wagon wheel granny squares following the pattern.
Step 2: Crochet squares together using a zig-zag half double crochet joining stitch, in the contrasting color. Tutorial for this stitch to follow tomorrow, but basically it goes like this: Working on right side, and with squares one next to the other, or stacked with backsides facing one another, join yarn in corner space of square closest to you, and hdc. Hdc in corner space of opposite square, then going back to first square, skip a dc, and hdc into the next dc. Go back to the opposite square, and skipping a dc, hdc into the next dc. Continue alternating sides, and skipping dcs until end. Fasten off. See my photo to check if yours looks like mine. This stitch is often done using a double crochet stitch, but I choose to make it a bit tighter by using a hdc.
Step 3: Add a border. Crochet all around the strip with a row of single crochet, crocheting 3sc in each corner. Now crochet all around the strip with a row of hdc, crocheting 3 hdc in each corner.
Step 4: Add a closure. One can certainly sew on 3 buttons that can fit into the holes created in the last round of the edge granny square, or take the simpler route and simply add a ribbon closure. Ribbon can be tied through a variety of holes depending on how neck warmer will be worn, or pin closed with a large kilt pin, also a great way to keep a neck warmer in place as desired.
