Blog Party: Craft Schooling Sunday

Welcome To Craft Schooling Sunday

CSS Sunday collageWelcome to Craft Schooling Sunday, Passover edition, thanks so much for joining me here! Here in Israel our Passover holiday is different from the rest of the world, as we only have one Seder night, (phew!) while everyone else who observes Jewish law makes a Seder on a second night as well. When I lived in the USA I couldn’t imagine having only one Seder, it seemed like deprivation, and now that I’ve been living in Israel for 20 years I can’t imagine having two Seders! I am writing this on Thursday night, and while those outside of Israel who observe Jewish law are now in the middle of a three day holiday with laws like Shabbat with the exception of cooking which is allowed on Thursday and Friday, (no driving, turning lights on and off, no telephone/computer etc,) we in Israel have an intermediate day to prepare for shabbat, and most importantly take a shower! I have already cooked more than enough food to take us through shabbat, so that means a bit of relaxing, and catching up on the blog, but no craft activities as creating new things is not allowed during this period. We have much colder weather than usual, though a few things in my garden have started to bloom, and just before the holiday I planted some flower seeds, for the first time in years, in some empty patches in my container garden, can’t wait for flowers!

With just our smallest nuclear family of 5 at home, the comparative preparation and clean up of the holiday meals already seems like a huge vacation, and I’ll admit I’m enjoying it…….that and the sparkling clean house, the organized and neatened container garden, and ta da, the cleaned up studio/office which happened for the first time in years! I do have a huge closet of stuff to go through and organize, but that is a small task compared with tackling the piles of stuff, yippee! I now have clean slate of a room, at long last! There are good things that can happen during this time of quarantine, so take advantage of extra help at home and possibly extra time! And of course, craft to your heart’s content, and here’s some great inspiration to help you, last week’s party features, enjoy!
