A Peek In My Sketchbook: Simple Glass Vases With Sprigs Doodle

Simple-glass-vase-doodles-with-botanicalsIt is true, with the week long Jewish holiday of Succot coming up this Friday night, now is the time get to work on the Succah decorations! Truthfully, the little game going on in my head right now is whether to use existing decorations as much as possible (some of which haven’t seen the succah for a few good years) or invest precious time in creating new decorations? As I type this I am realizing that maybe it is better to put my time into my sketchbook and my developing art practice, rather than new succah decorations, other than some new things to fill in the holes, as after all, one needs to prioritize! Of course, I could combine the succah decorations with the painting, ah, yes, which I what I will likely do! In the mean time, here’s a little peek into some sketchbook pages that I drew sometime around August 3rd, 2020, on the inside pages of my dutch door page, see that here.

Doodles of glass vases with sprigs and branches and flowers is so simple with great results, whether tiny or on the larger side, as these are! So take a look and give it a try, and as I keep saying, consider starting a sketchbook practice, it might be scary at first, but is an amazing journey once you give yourself permission to fill it with all things both perfect and imperfect!

Simple-glass-vase-doodles-with-botanicalsOf course, a few little cactus doodles are great anytime, anywhere!
Simple-glass-vase-doodles-with-botanicalsHere is a look at the entire spread, as you can see, the vases on the right have a little shading with some horizontal lines, where the vases on the left do not. Both work, so don’t think about it too much, just doodle it!

These are very pretty! I really like the flowers in the vase on the top left, and wow! How creative to shape the pages so the colorful prints from the other pages shown through.
