A Golden Gate Bridge Adventure Atop The Hop On Hop Off Bus

Golden-gate-bridge-on-open-busI’ve shared with you many of the iconic San Francisco landmarks that we enjoyed from the double decker hop-on hop-off bus, but now drum roll, for the most memorable part! Who knew that a ride across the Golden Gate Bridge atop the double decker hop-on hop-off bus would also be a thriller? And if you have teens who prefer those kinds of things, well, it is a win win! Of course if you don’t like to suffer, you can certainly descend into the bus and let the rest of the group scream as they freeze to death, but what fun would that be? Come prepared with a hood/hat and ample sweatershirt/jacket and if you need them, you have them!  As you well know, San Franscisco can be foggy and cold in the summer, so if you are not prepared do grab a sweatshirt sold in numerous shops for tourists who didn’t realize that summer in SF can be well, cold! I did come prepared but my teen sons somehow packed themselves and did not, such is life. Keep on reading for an in depth account of that ride across the Golden Gate Bridge that one of my sons said was his favorite part of our week in San Fransisco!

Golden-gate-bridge-on-open-busSo when on that foggy day, sitting in the middle of the upper deck of the bus, we started to cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and it was truly memorable……freezing, very very windy, and seemingly lasting forever. We gritted our teeth and my sons were smiling, so I figured, okay, great! Look up at that bridge!

We stayed on the bus, and worried a bit about the trip back, but my sons thought that sitting at the very front right behind the giant windshield might help…….
Golden-gate-bridge-on-open-busAnd did it help or did we freeze on the way back?
Golden-gate-bridge-on-open-busDoes my daughter look like she is freezing?
Golden-gate-bridge-on-open-busMy boys were right, the way back was neither windy nor freezing, and I can’t believe how quickly it went! Was it the windshield or going the opposite direction? Not sure, but we’ll take it!Golden-gate-bridge-on-open-busAnd that is the tale of our memorable Golden Gate Bridge ride! Here is the bridge as seen from Crissy Field, a wonderful spot for enjoying the bridge. And truthfully if you make it to San Francisco, do enjoy the bridge at every angle, from under the bridge, from Baker Beach and more. Put on those walking shoes and enjoy.
