A How-To Guide To Cut Glitter Cardstock With Cricut:

To cut perfect and intricate things out of glitter cardstock, there are custom settings in Cricut. When you decide to use a speciality material like glitter cardstock, you will need to learn about the custom material settings and getting the intricate cut you desire. Intricate cuts are perfect for many projects, and especially for elegant cards. You may have seen glitter cardstock used on a party invitation or greeting card, or cake toppers, and now you can make your own!

Which Blade To Use?

Most paper cutting projects benefit from using the fine point blade of Cricut, which is the standard blade. The finepoint blade can be used for paper weights  that are 65lbs to 110 lbs. But, if you have a thick glitter cardstock then you should use the deep point blade if you can. Do practice before using it on your final project, and get advice if you are a beginner. Sometimes, cardstock or other craft board can be quite thick, in which case you can use the Multi cut setting (meaning the machine will do at least 2 passes) with the standard blade if that is the only option.

Which Cricut Mat is perfect for cutting glitter cardstock?

Commonly, many people and DIY experts use the blue LightGrip mat. And, not only for cardstock but for other paper as well. It has an adhesive that makes the experience stress free and quick. If you are cutting a heavy glitter cardstock, then you can use the standard grip mat if that is what you have.

How to get the best results for cutting glitter cardstock with Cricut?

You must be sure to check the recommended setting mentioned above. It is important to determine whether the paper is light or heavy and then choose the appropriate setting. You can even get a test cut before you do your real project, in order to risk ruining all of your new materials. The settings must be appropriate given your machine and your paper. Moreover, check that the machine does not have an old blade. Sometimes the machine does not cut through the cardstock because of an old blade.

Also, you must be aware of the materials you are choosing. The quality of your cardstock is also vital for the type of project you are doing. Some poor quality glitter cardstock just will not result in acurate cuts. For some thicker materials, you have to do two passes to get the perfect cut. And again, it is important to ensure all of the settings are correct. One of the most common problems is a dull blade, and two passes in this scenario can do the trick. Alternately, if the project is quite intricate and you do not have time for two passes, try increasing the pressure.

I hope some of these basic tips will lead to a great experience with cuting glitter cardstock!
