How To Camp With Children
Spring has arrived, more or less, so it is time to get outdoors and teach our kids about the amazing gift of the natural world! Camping is a great activity to do with children, and even if you’ve never done it yourself, you can start the journey together! Camping and backpacking teaches us, just for starters about nature, about the ability to cope without running water and electricity, and about self reliance and independence. Camping is also a great bonding activity for the whole family, and teaches kids valuable lessons about survival and working together. With all these amazing benefits, you may wonder, when is the right time to start…

Tips For A Stress-Free And Fun Family Road Trip
It’s no surprise that Israel has already seen a record number of nearly two million tourists since the beginning of 2019. With breathtaking national parks, stunning beaches, archaeological sites, city and rural delights, there’s something for everyone vacationing in the Jewish state. With the Jewish holiday season coming up, now might just be the time to think about hitting the road in the Holy Land! Of course plenty of planning is required for a trip to Israel, though you’ll be richly rewarded with a unique bonding experience as a family unit. Rain Clouds Over The Mediterranean In Northern Israel
My two teenage sons, 15 and 13 are attending a sleep-away Yeshiva about an hour’s drive from home, and we miss them dearly! They do come home every-other shabbat, and we try to visit now and then on weeks when they won’t be coming home. This week my 15 year old really sounded like he needed us to visit, which is rare, so I re-organized my schedule in order to visit them this afternoon. I was somewhat worried about driving in stormy weather, as visibility around our mountaintop city can be very low during rain, but fortunately there was a respite from all the wet weather we’ve been having, and…

Tubing In Israel On Lake Tiberius
At the end of your Succot vacation when your thirteen year old is about to have a meltdown looking at the long 6 month stretch of serious yeshiva learning that lies ahead, and he thinks his vacation wasn’t packed with enough action, well, you go against your own grain and do whatever it takes to send him off to yeshiva happy, especially if he is your baby and a bit on the young side to be away from home! What am I babbling about? First of all, I am generally not in favor of water sports that involve fast boats and noise to put it politely, I am the kayaking,…

A Walk Down Outremont Avenue, Montreal
Knowing very little about Montreal when I set out to rent a place in a Jewish neighborhood where we could meet up with my mother sure was taking a big chance, but I’m happy to report we hit the jackpot, as the Outremont neighborhood that is both trendy and home to a thriving Jewish community is truly lovely on so many levels. It all happened very much by chance, and while I never was much good at winning raffles, I do seem to be on a winning streak with the vacation rentals, much to my relief! Outremont is both a neighborhood and an Avenue, and we actually rented a place…

Biosphere Environment Museum, Montreal
With the Jewish holiday season now behind us, one might think I would have some time for crafting, but since that is not the case I thought I’d share some photos with you from our summer travels! First off, have you ever heard of Buckminster Fuller? He was an amazing designer and thinker way ahead of his time, and fortunately was acknowledged enough in his lifetime such that we can learn from some of his projects. The Biosphere Museum in Montreal is housed within Buckminster Fuller’s original dome structure built for the 1967 World’s Fair, and the combination of history and present day environmental issues is truly a success. This…
