Holiday: Pesach/Passover

Getting Ready To Celebrate Passover With Family

Celebrating passover with family
Passover starts on the night of Friday March 30, so now is the time to start getting ready for this wonderful week long Jewish holiday.  We look forward to celebrating Passover because in our home it is a meaningful holiday full of family together time which includes of course the traditional seder, and a whole week of eating matzo, and more matzo. While the holiday itself is a joy, getting ready for Passover can be very time consuming and hectic depending on how strict you want to get with the cleaning. Making the holiday as relaxing and stress-free as possible, means planning ahead, and having a bunch of activities planned for the little ones.

It is true, that an eight day holiday, (seven days in Israel) represents quite a chunk of time. Depending on the ages of the children, or even if the holiday is celebrated by just adults, keeping Passover interesting all week long requires some forethought, and I’m here to help you with that! I was just introduced to a really nice Passover Activities Box from a company called Days United, and if you are already feeling a little stressed having read only this first paragraph, or are just completely swamped this time of year, this might be a great solution for you. The Days Passover box is a great gift idea as well, especially for those not so familiar with the holiday or who would like to teach their children the basics in a fun and friendly way.

Simplified Passover HaggadahSo it goes like this. Yippee, a package! Who doesn’t love getting mail? Should we save it or open it now? I’d say open up the box and start reading the Passover guide which has all the basic information you’ll need to plan a meaningful Passover for your children. This box is a great starting point for learning about Passover, and the activities are a perfect way to get the ball rolling, or rather get the matzo balls rolling…… Contemporary Kid's Passover PlateI just love love love this wooden veneer seder plate for kids that is also a puzzle! This is truly a wonderful keepsake to enjoy for years to come.

Passover Haggadah simple for kidsThe simplified Haggadah is a life saver when it comes to helping kids and newbies keep track of what can otherwise be a confusing part of the Passover seder. Look over the Haggadah ahead of time, and enjoy the links to lots of videos and extra cool content.
Passover Seder StickersKeeping kids involved is the number one priority, as this is how we pass down our family traditions. I just love the seder step stickers, brilliant! Fun sticker pages with the 15 steps of the ceremony, help kids keep track of the evening’s progression. Every time a new step begins find the appropriate sticker and stick it on. I think I’d like one of these too, please.

Contemporary Matzo cover and afikomen coverIf you’re looking for a super contemporary take on the traditional Passover story, look no further! The Day’s Passover box also includes an afikomen cover and a matzo cover with bold thought provoking graphics.

Passover jumping froms for sederJumping frogs will add a fun element to your seder, as will the graphics depicting the ten plagues in your Haggadah.

Make Your Own Matzo BallsAnd last, but not least, get busy making matzo balls, whether to enjoy for the Passover seder, or any time during the week of Passover. Making your own matzo balls may be something you’ve never tried, but with all the supplies right there in the box, you can tackle this one with confidence!

Invest in your family’s holiday experience, and this year you’ll know the answer to “why is this night different from all other nights?”, ah yes, the Days Passover box!

Wishing you all stress-free holiday preparations, and a wonderful meaningful Passover.
