Farming On The Dalalven River, Sweden

Sweden Dalalvan Farmhouse EntranceRight now is a great time for armchair traveling, so I'm resuming the posts about my travels last year, with many many more photos to share, so stay tuned! But first, lets finish our totally amazing two and 1/2 week Swedish adventure in the summer of 2019, for which I am so very grateful! You can find all the previous posts from our trip here.

Yes, it is true Sweden, is brimming with lovely red and white houses and farm buildings, and they seem to dot the countryside just about everywhere. (Well at least the regions we visited.) And unlike in the United States where you'll see one farm house on an extensive piece of land, in Sweden small farming villages were built, such that one will see a nice cluster of red and white buildings and homes. Given the long hard winters, it is certainly nice that the Swedish people realized that community makes a huge difference!

When we rented the little farm cottage I wrote about here, I didn't realize that there would be the opportunity to go for lovely walks in the area to reach the Dalaven river. The photos I'm sharing here were taken on those walks, which weren't high drama Swedish topography, but rather very sweet and calming. Enjoy!

Sweden Farming In Albo

So picturesque, a great photo to sketch or paint, note to self!Sweden Barn On DalalvenAn old barn on the verge of collapsing next to pastel plastic wrapped bale of hay that look like giant rolls of toilet paper!

Sweden Farm On Dalalven House DetailsA sweet little spot with old milk cans as decor and a rustic ladder for holding pots of flowers.

Sweden Farm Buildings On DalavenIf you read my previous posts here, you will learn why the Swedish buildings were painted red! (I'll give you a hint, it involves minerals from local mines and the need for paint that is hardy in the long cold winters.)

Sweden Farmland On The DalalvenAh yes, fields and rustic architecture and big sky, so lovely.

Sweden Dalalven Pink Stalk FlowersAnd even more lovely, flowers blooming with the view of the river beyond, stunning!
