On The Banks Of The Dalalven River In Albo, Sweden
Ah yes, a quiet afternoon on the banks of the Dalalven River in Sweden sure sounds amazing right about now! With most folks housebound due to Corona quarantines, armchair traveling and making really detailed plans for future travels is a great activity, something one might not have the time for in the future! If you love nature, and travel on a budget, include a few weeks in July or August in Sweden into your plans, it is truly amazing and there are summer cottages everywhere for rent for very reasonable prices, especially if you don’t need a toilet with plumbing! I hope to have the opportunity to go back, and…

Farming On The Dalalven River, Sweden
Right now is a great time for armchair traveling, so I'm resuming the posts about my travels last year, with many many more photos to share, so stay tuned! But first, lets finish our totally amazing two and 1/2 week Swedish adventure in the summer of 2019, for which I am so very grateful! You can find all the previous posts from our trip here. Yes, it is true Sweden, is brimming with lovely red and white houses and farm buildings, and they seem to dot the countryside just about everywhere. (Well at least the regions we visited.) And unlike in the United States where you'll see one farm house…

A Swedish Farm Bakehouse In Albo Becomes A Lovely Vacation Rental
This lovely historic bakehouse that goes with the classic Swedish farmhouse I recently shared, was truly an amazing place to spend three nights. Just look at that lovely porch, and ahhh, the peaceful location, we really lucked out on this one, and while we had so many amazing experiences in Sweden, this was one of my favorites! Truthfully, the rental cottage is close to the main farmhouse where the owners live, but they were away for part of the weekend, and turned out to be really lovely folks, so it was amazing all around. My photos of the interior didn’t turn out well, but just know that the living room…

A Classic Swedish Farmhouse In Albo, Sweden
Wow, it has been nearly two whole months since I last shared my travel photos, and specifically from our amazing 2 1/2 weeks in Sweden this past summer. (You can see all the previous posts here.) Time is just flying by, though I buckled down and went through the remaining photos from our Swedish adventure to share with you, as after that I have to share a visit to The Vessel in Manhattan, our family reunion in Boston, USA and Cape Cod, and after that Prague! 2019 was a year packed with travel, and I am very blessed to have had the opportunity to see family across the seas, and…

Cutest Swedish Cafe Ever In Falun
One on the jaw dropping design surprises on our trip to Sweden was entering the cutest cafe on earth, in Falun, at the site of the historic copper mine. Honestly, my pictures do not do justice to the place and I was embarrassed to take photos of the actual bakery section, so just take my word for it. Visit the mine in order to visit the cafe! Of course we couldn’t eat any of the food, but black coffee and other drinks are generally kosher, so we could still sit and enjoy! Basically the cafe consists of many rooms and outdoor areas, decorated with a really effortless looking mix of…

Historic Falun Copper Mine In Dalarna, Sweden
On our travels in Sweden this past summer we had many amazing experiences that were muo ostly unplanned, and while I enjoyed anything having to do with water, either ocean or lake the most, there were also other destinations that made our trip very well rounded indeed, including a stop at the historic copper mine in Falun, which is in the Dalarna region. As it turns out, this is a World Unesco Heritage Site, so certainly worth a visit if you are in the area, and if you are traveling with kids it looks like the underground tour might be something to consider. We chose to walk around the grounds,…
