Welcome To Craft Schooling Sunday!
Welcome to Craft Schooling Sunday, thanks so much for joining me here! I hope everyone is well, and staying safe, and using any extra down time for creativity! Time is just flying by and I can’t believe another week has passed, where did it go? Fortunately I have been working on an art journal, so I do see some progress there, but it is very slow going as each page is a work of art……..or at least that is the direction the project is taking. The next journal I start will have to be something a bit quicker, maybe big brush lettering quotes with a few tiny illustrations……then again I’d…

IQ Tests For Kids?
Above: Creative activities such as turning a random paint blob into something are great for children’s development. As parents we want the very best for our precious children, and that certainly includes making sure our kids are hitting their developmental milestones, as well as eating a healthy diet, getting exercise and the right amount of sleep. Of course those are just the basics, and the parent who truly wants to help their child have a joyful and productive life should be very on top of how their child is doing in school and know when certain situations may be red lights that need attention. It is never about “is my…

Today Is Holocaust Rememberance Day
While International Holocaust Rememberance Day is in January, Israel’s Holocaust Rememberance Day is observed today. This post is in loving memory of all those whose lives were cut short at the hand of evil, and whose suffering knew no bounds. There are quite simply no words that adequately express the tragedy in which people were quite literally tossed out like garbage, deprived of their basic human rights, and punished, all because of their genetic heritage. The holocaust is something that will never happen again, and yet the fact that it happened at all is so very shocking. There is one major point however that the evil enemies didn’t foresee, and…

Once Again, Today Is The Day To Bake Schlissel Challah!
We were away for the last two Passover holidays, so this is actually the first year in quite awhile that we were able to bake key-shaped challahs at the right time, namely the first shabbat after Passover. The photos here are from the archives, but promise, I made two key challahs, together with three four stranded braided challahs, our go-to challah shape of choice year round. And since we successfully made a small just us mimouna with mufleta the night right after the Passover holiday ended in acccordance with the Moroccan Jewish tradition, I am so happy to have had the opportunity to make the Ashkenazic version, schlissel challah, which…

A 2020 Guide To Avoiding And Handling A Car Breakdown
Above: A truly Swedish adventure was finding ourselves with a flat tire in the middle of a mosquito infested forest. A little stressful, but so many nice folks stopped to help and a huge tow truck arrived eventually. Our Swedish adventure last summer was filled with so many amazing adventures, including this unexpected few hours spent on the side of a road in the middle of a swampy forest, due to our tire blowing out. Some really kind folks stopped to help us, and apologized when they had to leave after hanging out for 30 plus minutes to help! They needed a part for their foresting machinery, so they were…

What’s Cookin’ For Passover And Repeating History!
Passover is coming, Corona of not, and this year we are repeating history that occurred in Egypt, over 3,000 years ago, somewhat mind blowing really. The very first Seder happened with each family ALONE as they were quarantined in their homes in Egypt! Moses told the Jews not to go out of our houses (sound familiar?) as G-d would actually Pass-over the Jewish homes as he delivered the plague of the firstborn. One of the great Torah commentators from 14th century Spain, the Baal Haturim, discloses that just like the first Seder on the night of the actual redemption from Egypt was performed by each family ALONE in their houses,…
