Ice Cream Cones And Guitars Party Garland Using Recycled Cardboard!
Make a fun garland that matches the theme of your party with just a few simple supplies, some simple line drawings and the more creativity the better, especially when it comes to making use of cardboard, paper and packaging that can all be put to great use! This ice creme cone and guitar birthday party garland came about quite simply because the pattern on the boxes of matza that we enjoyed this Passover had that gridded pattern, and ice cream cones came to mind, and the guitars are in keeping with the overall theme of guitars (as we surprised my son with a new guitar.) Surely an original combination and I just love how it works with the musical note faux helium balloon decoration. Are my decorations totally crisp and perfect looking? NO, first of all because they were basically made on the spot with no planning ahead, and secondly because that is the beauty of them, in my humble opinion. Decorations that look homemade will feel like they are from the heart, and that after all is the true purpose, right?

You'll Need:
- recycled cardboard, plain, colored and with patterns
- a black meduim point permanent marker and a pencil
- commercial t-shirt yarn
- hot glue
How To;
I drew the guitar on cardboard, and checked the proportions of the neck to the body against a real guitar. Once I got the drawing to the point of looking good enough, I cut out the guitar shape and used that to trace the rest of the guitar shapes. I then added the line drawing to the guitar shaped piece of cardboard, which was actually qutie fun. One could of course combine drawing with paper collage, which might be quicker and is a good way to add color.
The ice cream cones were made with a piece of patterned box from Passover matzos (we had a lot of these boxes fortuanately as each box only had a small portion of this pattern used in a big enough area to make the cone) and the white ice cream ball was made from boxes that bottles of soda (seltzer) come in. The cherry on top? well that is simply a little piece of t-shirt yarn rolled into a flat spiral, and secured with hot glue.
After you have all your elements complete, space evenly on a flat surface. Turn the pieces over and then using hot glue, affix a long lenth of t-shirt yarn to the back. That is it, so much fun!
