How To Draw A Botanical Border For A New Baby Card

A new baby means a new baby card, and all that sketching or rather doodling in my sketchbook means it is time to put that practice to work in the form of a handmade card! And, why not do the artwork on a separate piece of paper, in this case notebook paper, and simply glue that on to the card? No pressure and great results, gotta love it! And while I don’t really favor the look of markers these days, I love how this simple card turned out, and the recipients didn’t even realize at first that it was hand made! So dear friends, learn how to make some simple flower and leaf doodles, practice a bit of simple lettering, and you are good to go, nothing fancy needed, just some sweet sentiments from the heart, made by you! Okay, lets find out how to make this card exactly, shall we?

You’ll Need:

• notebook paper
• a piece of patterned paper
• a black fine markers and assorted markers in colors you’d like to use (or that work with your patterned paper)
• a glue stick

How To:

1. Make you card using the patterned paper, and then plan the size of your design accordingly, or vice versa.
2. Draw your design, in pencil first if you prefer, though I did not do that, as who has time ?
3. Color in your design using markers, and even shading with layers of markers
4. Cut out your design and glue it to the front of the card
5. Write your heart felt message inside!

And while you are at it, why not make some generic cards with messages you could use for various occassions, it is always great to have something handmade on hand to whip out when needed! So enjoy doodling and then spreading the love!
