Summer Camp Crafts: A Graffiti Logo Sweatshirt With Splashes Of Color
I am so grateful that my teen daughter loves crafting, as with no school for months now due to Covid-19, she has had lots of time to delve into creative activities that she loves, the latest being grafitti sweatshirts! Her friends are begging her to make some for them, and while I was just thinking she could do a class, maybe just buying an airbrush and semi-mass producing them would be a better idea? Just to be clear, my daughter isn’t wearing this sweatshirt out and about, but she certainly has fun wearing it as pajamas! The graffit sweatshirt idea all started with a Purim costume which led to a…

Summer Camp Crafts: A Simple Graffiti Sweatshirt In Black And White
Summer is here, and yet this summer is not like other summers, sigh. Here at CJM central we seem be in the middle of eternal vacation, well sort of, with the future of schooling this year very uncertain. Rather than dwell on that, and whether some of my kids will actually get “summer vacation” when and if school starts, lets get busy making summer camp crafts, as there is something about messy or process oriented or outdoor type crafts that just makes many of us happy, not to mention busy and creative! Speaking of busy, this graffiti sweatshirt project could keep someone busy for hours and hours, and when my…

Simple Watercolor Poppy Wall Art
After sharing a few posts last week showing the watercolor poppies I used to make holiday decorations I decided to hold off and publish this watercolor poppy wall art separately so that it wouldn’t get lost in all the gorgeousness of the watercolor poppy cut outs and the watercolor poppies centerpiece! After making those watercolor poppy cut-outs with straight stems, I realized that I could paint a panorama (two sheets of large watercolor paper used horizontally) of curved stem poppies to fill the width of my kitchen picture ledge for some more lovely decor! And yes indeed, simply painting a long row of poppies with no added background looks quite…

Ice Cream Cone Gift Tags From A Recycled Ice Cream Cone Box!
Ice cream cone gift tags from an ice cream cone box are just the cutest and one of the quickest recycling crafts ever! As I was trying to clear out all the recycling items that I hoard, including a lovely pink ice cream cone box from a certain Israeli brand, the idea struck and within minutes, voila, two ice cream cone gift tags were born! And oh so relevant as my daughter whipped up an amazing cake that I’ll be sharing next, (meaning there were some very photogenic cookies and candies to style the photo) making this week birthday week! In general I love saving graphics from boxes, especially vintage…

Painted Rock Garden Project For Rosh HaShana!
Yes, it is certainly true, you won’t likely find any other painted rock projects in the Rosh HaShana crafts category anywhere except here. And yes dear readers that is because here at CJM creativity is the name of the game, which means we needn’t be constricted by standard ideas when it comes to making projects for specific holidays! So yes, apples and honey, carrots and fish, and shofars do represent Rosh HaShana, but then again so does a rock garden filled with hopes and dreams and prayers for the new year! So, while I did not create this lovely rock garden, rather photographed it in the Bunker HIll neighborhood of…

Wooden Fish and Whale Shaped Signs Are Inspiration For Jewish Holiday Crafts!
One of my favorite things about beach towns and rustic vacation destinations is fun signs, and this year I spotted a few great ones during our week in Onset Massachusetts in the Cape Cod area. (More on that in a few weeks, after my Sweden recap!) It occurred to me that a fish shaped sign could be great for Rosh HaShana, and a whale shaped sign is perfect for the Succah, we actually have some Succah whale art, so this is just another fun idea. And of course, this is just inspiration, meaning, look at the photos and if they speak to you, let your mind wander to some fish…
