Drinking Straw Starbursts Make Perfect Birthday Centerpieces
Here it is, the simplest birthday centerpiece with the greatest WOW value, drinking straw starbursts! And best of all, they aren’t just for birthdays, I just realized if you have gold or silver straws you could actually make some drinking straw starbursts worthy of a wedding, an anniversary or any event that requires a touch of elegance, really! This is a quick project that makes zero mess, could be done on the site of the party, and saved in a a big box for another use. (And yes, please don’t toss them, they are not environmentally friendly.) I could see these starburst straw decorations being hung in a stairwell vertically,…

Super Simple Birthday Balloons In A Pinch
When I say simple birthday balloons, I mean really simple, and when I mean in a pinch, I mean when time is really really precious, like the guests are about to knock on the door! This week I’m finally going to share with you all the super quick birthday decorations I whipped up for a shabbat birthday celebration for my 14 year old son earlier this month. It was a surprise to boot, which means had I only had about 20 minutes or less to hang up any decorations that needed hanging between the time I literally pushed my son out of the house until the official beginning of shabbat,…

DIY Cactus Balloons For Shavuos Or Anytime!
Summer is almost here which means warm weather, longer days and extra family time. Summer also brings many celebrations, such as the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, and or course weddings and birthdays. If you’re looking for a unique theme for your summer celebration, try using cacti as a motif! The holiday of Shavuot is celebrated by decorating our homes and synagogues with greenery and flowers, so I say flowering cacti are perfect! Cacti are cute, and very easy to incorporate into a party—they can be used as decor, party favors and even included in food or drinks (like a prickly pear lemonade). The most commonly found cactus in Israel is…

How To Make Origami Pinwheels While Spring Cleaning
Origami pinwheels, also referred to as origami windmills, are simple to make and a great way to make some spring decorations while also using up bits of scrapbooking or other paper you have hanging around collecting dust! I love making origami from wrapping paper, so that is game as well, as are recycled magazine pages and just about anything thin enough to fold. I came across this two sheets of A4 sized bubble wrap printed paper that I made a good twelve years ago, and instead of tossing it I decided to make some origami pinwheels, and I just love how cheerful they are. You can use these pinwheels to…

Toilet Paper Tube Castle Craft
We are on a roll with the recycling crafts for Purim, and I couldn’t be more pleased, especially since we still have a week to keep on crafting for the festive holiday! Introducing toilet paper tube castle craft, which you can make to use as a centerpiece, a scene on a sideboard, or even as a simple toy. I generally save toilet paper tubes for crafting, but this time only had five on hand, so may castle is considerably smaller than I would have preferred. I’d love to see a castle that is a few stories high, and maybe with some little rooves and flags, but with the lack of…

Cardboard Fish Centerpiece For Purim, Or Just For Fun!
The cardboard fish centerpieces I made for our community Purim party were a hit, and now I get to use them to decorate our house for Purim, coming up quickly next week. I don’t think I’ll use all ten of them, then again, a school of fish swimming down my Purim table could be lots of fun, right? I’ll get out the blue tablecloths and take it from there…..maybe I’ll make some milk carton boats or use some plastic ones and do a whole ocean themed table…….I guess it all depends on how quickly the costumes go this year, and how many guests we’ll be having. At this moment I’m…
