Crocheted Cactus Applique To Use In So Many Ways
Crocheted cacti are just the cutest things, really, and despite my late arrival to the trend (Truthfully I made these a year and a half ago, just had no time to photograph them, sigh.) they still look great. This crocheted cactus applique can be used in so many ways, I actually used it as a birthday garland recently, and am hoping to make a dessert scene wall hanging in the future. I found the pattern on Pinterest and changed it just a bit to suit my personal aesthetic, namely I made the cactus taller and used two strands of green yarn in different shades to add texture. I just love…

Yom Kippur Craft Using Last Year’s Calendar!
I am reposting this from last year, as it is just too great to pass by, and as a reminder to myself to make another with my 2018 calender! I’ll be the first to admit, crafts for Yom Kippur are rarely something I’ve had time for, as the holiday occurs just four days before Succot, for which I am crafting up a storm. That said, this year I am mending my ways and trying to post at least a few simple ideas for the holiday, as after all, every holiday deserves crafts right? This year I decided to try out some simple recycling craft techniques by creating a few things…

DIY Floral Centerpiece Is Gorgeous And Budget Friendly
Aren’t these flowers just gorgeous? Now is the time to take a trip to your local nursery, buy some inexpensive pots of flowering plants, and make a gorgeous DIY floral centerpiece. You can assemble a stunning floral arrangemet in minutes that is so budget friendly you’ll only buy cut flowers during the winter! Okay, maybe you’d rather spend a small fortune on truly gorgeous bouquets, but around here flowers rarely last more than a week, as opposed to flowering plants that we can enjoy for months. Ah yes, and I just love the natural look of using flowering plants that come with their own greenery! I actually purchased all these little…

Brush Lettering With Faux Watercolor Background Birthday Card
It is true, here at CJM headquarters the little ones are now teens and tweens, so not a lot of kiddy crafts going on, but fortunately my daughter is picking up the slack with her creative endeavors. She just loves brush lettering and especially creating faux watercolor backgrounds for her lettering, which I’ve shared several times in the past. Today I photographed this birthday card before we put it in the mail, and not only is it great, it also goes along with all my orange/red fire themed crafts for the Jewish holiday of Lag B’Omer, coming up next week! Ah yes, and this card is the perfect partner…

Giant DIY Party Hats Centerpiece
Giant cardboard party hats are the perfect thing to make when you want to make a statement with festive decorations for a birthday party, or in our case the upcoming Jewish holiday of Purim, but you don’t have a huge amount of time to invest. Make them in a few sizes, and place them in the middle of the table as a fun centerpiece. Next time I think I’ll go with solid colors and huge white polka dots and a yarn or plastic bag pom pom on top. I’ll let you in on a little secret though, I have actually used these hats as Purim party decorations for our community…
