Getting Your Orchid To Rebloom, Up Close And In Person!
It is with great excitement that I share with you my white phaleanopsis orchid in full bloom, namely in full bloom as it has re-bloomed! And even more marvelous is that the plant now has four stalks of blooms as opposed to the two stalks of flowers that were existing when I received this beauty. Now, I am no expert when it comes to orchids, but since my orchid is obviously quite happy, I guess I did something right, so I thought I'd share that with you!

Schlumbergera In Full Bloom
A schlumbergera xmas cactus in full bloom is one of the joys of container gardening that I encourage you to explore. And if you live in a zone where there are no frosts, or only rarely, you can certainly raise schlumbergera outdoors, and as a hanging plant they look their best. I will admit the colors of the schlumbergera in bloom look almost artificial, and most who enter our home surely wouldn't believe that it is actually a real plant in bloom, but it is indeed!

Droopy Cyclamen? Add Water!
Pots of blooming cyclamen are one of the highlights of winter here in Israel, and one of the signs of early early spring in the wild. I'll never forget my first glimpse of wild cyclamen, it was so exciting. Lest I digress, the point of this post is to really answer the question of what to do with a droopy cyclamen, and to help avoid panic if it happens to you. Now it is true, a droopy plant can happen for two reasons at totally different ends of the spectrum. One reason is too little water, and another reason is so much water that the roots actually rot and suddenly…

The First Blooms Of My Schlumbergera!
After sharing with you the first buds on my schlumbergera, I'm now happy to share with you some of the first blooms! Of course there are many many buds just waiting to open, so I am happy to say that this shabbat we'll be enjoying a lovely burst of color in the middle of our living room! If you don't own a schlumbergera, I'd highly recommend adding one to your home, as the winter blooms are just stunning, and the whole bud to bloom process is so very exciting. My plant, who has both red and magenta blooms, is steadily growing had a bit of a set back this past…

Succulent Party Favor Using Miniature Plastic Trophies
I love the look of antique silver trophies filled with fresh cut flowers from the garden, though no such trophies have appeared in my life, so for the time being I am having fun making little succulent party favors or succulent place holders using small plastic trophies and succulent cuttings from my container garden. It really is sweet isn't it? And of course you can add a nice little tag if you like, or even make up some small labels to commemorate the event. And even if you aren't having a party, so a bunch of these small trophies filled with succulent cuttings or already rooted tiny plants looks great…

Getting A Moth Orchid To Re-Bloom
So the story goes like this: after making a huge purchase at a nursery in September 2014, my husband told the guy ringing up our order to throw in the lovely Moth Orchid (Phalaenopsis ) I had picked out for myself as a present. And since this is Israel where purchases in many family owned businesses can (and should) be bargained for, well, I got that orchid as a gift! And I happily placed it in the center of my Moroccan brass tray coffee table, and to my great surprise it just kept on blooming and blooming for yes, an ENTIRE YEAR! This was my first orchid and I really…
