Gorgeous And Artful Painted Paper Collage For Every Skill Level
As I have mentioned I have begun to dip my big toe into the world of Instagram, from my computer that is, and in just the smallish community of 99.9% female artists and illustrators where I’m currently hanging out, I’ve already found so many inspiring artists unknown to me previously, because well, they’ve been promoting themselves on instagram! One such artist is Este Macleod, who has a wonderful, truly artful style, and best of all, a sense of creativity, and a love for teaching and encouraging creativity that is exceptional. Este loves creating by starting with letters and numbers (right up my alley!), and In her instagram post (you do…

Creative Process: How I Painted A Moroccan Gazebo With Lilacs
I am on a roll as far as working in my sketchbook, and this time I actually remembered to take a “before” photo, so introducing a behinds the scenes look at what exactly went into creating this sweet Moroccan style garden scene. I think you’ll be quite surprised to see the evolution, which you can see if you keep on reading. It is true, I have been doing mostly botanicals and florals and landscapes cute animals in my sketchbook, so when the idea of making a Moroccan pergola came to mind I thought, what, architecture? okay, why not? The truth is, that I love creating in such a way that…

Mixed Media Lilacs Blooming In My Sketchbook!
Lilacs are blooming in my sketchbook, because in general I’ve been trying to fill the pages, and now, with my new instagram account, right here, (please follow me!) I’ve decided to do a few February challenges to help me create content and get my account noticed, hopefully. It has been a while since I’ve painted flowers, so the #28FebruaryFlowers challenge is going to be well, quite honestly, a challenge! If I miss a day, or need to do something really simple I will give myself a break, as I’m also hoping to participate in #28FeatheredFriends, which is yes, a bird challenge! So, over the next month, in addition to Purim…

Folk Art Trees In Bloom Doodle Painting
Looking for a fun tree doodle, that is simple with great results, and that you could even use as a Tu B’Shevat craft? These folk art doodle trees are sweet as can be, and look great as is, on paper, but one could also draw them on cereal box cardboard and use them for a garland or napkin rings, or how about a grove of stand up folk art doodle trees? This was a first for me, and I have to admit, the last time I tried to doodle trees in my sketchbook, sometime last May, I failed completely, but I just had to get back up on the horse,…

Painting Clouds On An Orange Background
With the next Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shevat not for another 27 days, I am trying to spend as much time as possible painting, either in my sketchbook, or not. This week I got back into exploring how to paint clouds, an idea I had started working on a whole year ago, but just didn’t get back to it. And then I painted some llamas with tiny cranes flying overhead, and then I painted some cranes, and then I realized that painting clouds was the natural thing to paint next! So, I painted one spread of clouds that isn’t all that great, and then I painted this spread, which I…
