A Peek In My Sketchbook: Drawing Wild Poppies
A natural outcome for a creative person who loves to take nature walks is to start sketching all that amazing inspiration, a much quicker alternative to painting I might add! So, since I have just shared with you photos of the lovely red poppies native to Northern Israel, I thought I’d share with you the sketches of poppies that I drew in my sketchbook. And not just any sketchbook, but rather one that was only half full of sketches I’d make in New York before moving to Israel, yikes, quite a long time ago. I’m a little sad that I didn’t keep up the creative practice of drawing in a…

Ink Blob Figures Creative Exercise For Any Age
With the never-ending school vacation possibly coming to an end within a few weeks here in Northern Israel, I am reminded that now is the time to seize the precious moments with my teens and try to fit in a few more creative activities! We actually created these fun and creative ink blob exercises, (which is a similar exercise to the paint blob pictures here) courtesy of a free video from Carla Sonheim, before Passover, but only now had the time to photograph them. They are truly a perfect example of a creative activity that can be done relatively quickly, or not, and the results can be used in many…

Paint Blob Creative Drawing Exercise For All Ages!
Now is a great time to invest in creatiivity, and one of the best ways is to start with short exercises that build interest and confidence and most importantly really drive home the message that creativity is NOT about perfection. So if you dream of being an artist, or you think someone else in your family might have what it takes, (I can’t believe I’m saying this) stop crafting and start making art! What? Yes indeed my friends, because most crafting is about the result, and lets face it, everyone likes nice results, right? Art on the other hand is generally much more process oriented and therefore generally not about…

Doodle Bees For Rosh HaShana!
Rosh HaShana is just around the corner, so in a pinch I realized that my folk art doodle bees didn’t need to become a wall hanging but rather would look great just taped on the wall. Yes, of course the parthership of my doodle bees and this Swedish apple poster by fine little day are what make the simplicity of taping the bees to the wall successful, then again, I think they’d look great as is as well. So dear readers, do spend the time to create some fun decorations for Rosh HaShana, but don’t get too stressed out about how to display them, simply tape them on the wall,…

Folk Art Doodle Bee Gift Cards Or Tags
After drawing a whole barrel of folk art doodle apples last week, I just had to give the same technique a try with some bees, and I’m happy as can bee with the results! Okay, truthfully it did take me a whole sheet of bees to get it right, (and I almost gave up, yikes!) as I just couldn’t find the right combination of florals and stripes, but in the end, I found a formula that works, and am so happy that I stuck with the idea in my head! And in any case, stripes and florals always go together, so why not with some fun folk art bee cards…
