DIY Tin Can Pots Ten Ways: A Round up
Tonight is the beginning of the very festive (around our neck of the woods) holiday called Lag B’Omer, though for the moment (a quiet moment before all the guests, action, etc.) I am dreaming about making a festive tin can garden for the next big Jewish holiday, Shavuot! Tin cans of all sizes can be up-cycled to make the most adorable or fashionable tin can garden or centerpiece. Check out the ideas I’ve assembled for you here thanks to a bunch of talented folks, and don’t dream, collect those tin cans and enjoy!

Large Quilled Leaves Using A Quilling Peg Board
Looking for a large quilled leaf to add to your quilling project? This one is roughly 3″ long, and its skeletal shape makes it great for pairing with more dense quilled elements. This week I have been experimenting with some quilled leaf shapes, some which I’ve made using tutorials from others, and this one which I made up myself. Now, I can’t say I love it as much as the quilled leaf sprigs I shared yesterday, but this leaf is much larger and could certainly represent leaves from many kinds of plants, I’m thinking roses, or even thistles. Using my simple instructions, you can also come up with some leaves…

Quilled Leaf Sprigs Are So Lovely You Can’t Stop
Shavuos, the holiday of greenery is coming in another month, so why not start quilling some lovely leaves? Paper quilling isn’t one of those crafts that you can whip up quickly, but it is oh so lovely, and can be done in spare moments just about anywhere, so give it a try! These little quilled leaf sprigs look so fabulous that I just couldn’t stop! And since I have the excuse of recovering from our recent travels, well, I just kept making more and more. I have seen that many quillers make large quantities of quilling elements that they keep in nice little divided boxes, so truthfully one could start…

Simple Quilled Leaves Using A Comb
Quilling is all the rage, and it is no wonder! With just the simplest of supplies, and tools you can eve find around the house, you can create stunning quilled elements to use however you please. These little leaves looks more complicated than they are, and might be something to try after you’ve made basic quilled shapes like the ones I used for my quilled Hanukkah projects. And the fun part about quilling is that you can use tiny pre-cut strips or cut the strips yourself to make your project larger. If you love delicate work, so working small won’t bother you, just take your time and the results will…

Watercolor One Stroke Leaves On Branches
With just a few very simpe techniques under your belt the mystery of painting simple and beautiful watercolor illustrations becomes so much clearer! I’ll admit, learning how to paint leaves with just one stroke was a new one for me, and I am in love with this technique! Yesterday I shared with you my fern leaf watercolors, and today we’re going for a denser bush/tree look by painting leaves on delicate branches. So get out those round watercolor brushes and some watercolor paper, or at the least round brushes and paint of any kind, and lets get started!

Simply Lovely Watercolor Fern Paintings For Mastering Brush Control
Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish holiday that celebrates the New Year for the trees starts tonight, and if you have 30 minutes or so you can still whip up some gorgeous watercolor leaf paintings and learn about practicing your brush strokes a win win crafting experience! While I have yet to actually put in the time I’d like, I’m in the process of honing/learning some illustration skills, starting with watercolor painting. It turns out that the first step is learning brush control, using a round brush, and leaves like the ones used in my fern illustrations are created with just one stroke. Pretty great I must admit, and so relaxing to…
