Chalkboard DIY Apples
Hey guys, at long last I have jumped on the chalkboard DIY trend, though of course with a twist, true to creativjewishmom style. (And with some upcycling too, as you might expect!) When I picked up a little bottle of acrylic chalkboard paint on our trip to the USA this summer, I knew I'd find a million and one uses for it, but the first really good one is DIY chalkboard apples, just in time for the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat which is the new year for fruit bearing trees. So whether you have some articifial apples of any kind hanging around, or you need to go buy some,…

Paper Collage Craft For Kids Of All Ages
This past week when one of my very favorite four year olds came for a visit, and I was called upon to do a craft with him (because our last craft, origami boats was so very successful that he took the whole box of boats with him to school!) I pulled out a pile of paper and the few supplies I could actually find amongst my piles of previous projects (sigh) and figured we would just wing it! I had thought of doing some origami again, but those piles were blocking the bookcase in my crafting room, and I really didn't want to involve my good old computer in this…

Play Hanukkah Cookies Made From Hama (Perler) Beads
Hanukkah starts on Saturday night, and yes I have been crafting non-stop, phew! Here's a fun Chanukah craft that the kids can do all week long, and certainly sugar-free! Get out the hama beads and make some Hanukkah cookies for a play tea party, fun right? Of course you can always hang your hama bead hanukkah cookies as a mobile, but I love them displayed on a plate for a touch of holiday whimsy. Wishing you all a wonderful light filled Hanukkah, and keep reading for some more photos!

Here's a fun idea for turning your kid's drawings into cute holiday decorations, and not only does it only take a few minutes, but it sure beats putting them on the fridge! And once the holiday or occasion is over, you can simply remove the lights and store flat until next year. And before you know it you just might have a whole gallery full of fun kid's art to pull out any time. It also just occurred to me to gently remind you as well that when we make an effort to show our kids how much we love their art, they'll be encouraged to make more! Okay, lets…

Super Simple Havdalah Spice Pouch Is Perfect For The Holidays!
This simple havdalah spice pouch project is perfect to give as a little party favor this holiday season, and fun to whip up as well. For those who aren't familiar with havdalah, it is the ceremony that is performed Saturday night to usher out the 25 hour period we call shabbat or shabbos. In the havdalah ceremony three blessings are made on material things, one on wine, one on fire, and one on spices. After the blessing is made on the spices all of those where are present sniff the spices, which might be in the form of fresh herbs (in our home we generally use cuttings from my…
