DIY Tin Can Pots Ten Ways: A Round up
Tonight is the beginning of the very festive (around our neck of the woods) holiday called Lag B’Omer, though for the moment (a quiet moment before all the guests, action, etc.) I am dreaming about making a festive tin can garden for the next big Jewish holiday, Shavuot! Tin cans of all sizes can be up-cycled to make the most adorable or fashionable tin can garden or centerpiece. Check out the ideas I’ve assembled for you here thanks to a bunch of talented folks, and don’t dream, collect those tin cans and enjoy!

Crocheted Hearts Wall Hanging From The Archives
How about making a crocheted hearts wall hanging to remind someone that you love them? I made this crocheted hearts and leaves wall hanging using a real branch, to hang in my daughter’s room four yeas ago, and while it did sag just a bit towards the end of its run, all in all it was a huge success. Now we are in the process of redecorating my daughter’s room, so the wall hanging has come down, but it is still such a wonderful project that I thought I’d share it with you again! I did spend some time working up some more of these cherry blossom popcorn stitch hearts…

DIY: Miniature Candy Apples Are Perfectly Adorable
I now present you dear readers with just about the simplest and most adorable way to decorate a cake, cupcakes, a dessert plate: mini candy apples made from toffee candies with clove stems! And of course you can use this same idea to make mini candy lemons, oranges and grapes. It is true I am the kind of mom who shudders at the thought of buying candy, but of course the candy thing is way beyond my control and the dreaded stuff does make its way into our house, and especially those little colorful gummy toffee candies as those are very often thrown from the balcony of the synagogue (at…

These DIY rope covered apples are so simple to make that you can surely whip up a whole bowl full in an hour or so. Of course if you start calling all your friends to tell them about this great craft you found, well that may just increase your crafting time, so I’d say craft and then tell! Or in this case, Pin, if you would be so kind? Rope, in this case the thinnest one I could find at my local hardware store, is…

Needlepoint Apple On Plastic Canvas
With Rosh HaShana in just a week, now might be a great time to take a few moments for yourself and make a little needlepoint apple on plastic canvas! The results are so very sweet, and of course you can use your little apple as a Jewish New Year’s card, as a gift tag, a fridge magnet, or as part of a little wall hanging for the holiday, which is what I’m hoping to do. As a tween I used to design my own geometric needlepoint patterns, and so whipping up this little apple was a bit of a trip down memory lane, and I would love to do more……..then again…

Rosh HaShana Card Craft For Kids Using Paper And Staples!
One of the things I love about doing crafts with kids is that once in a while a fresh idea comes to light via the innocence of a child. The idea of using only staples and paper to create something, in this case a card for Rosh HaShana, the Jewish New Year, is truly a fabulous one, and maybe even one that is born of necessity. And of course there is a great lesson to be learned: don’t let lack of a range of supplies inhibit your creativity, it can in fact help your creativity flourish! I am at long last cleaning out my office (which sadly became more like…
