Staghorn Fern Centerpiece Is Perfect In The Succah!
Today is the last day of Succot, sorry to say, and I’ve been working hard to photograph my succah, as well as keeping the family fed and happy, and preparing for the next holiday, Simchat Torah, in which we actually leave our succahs, come into our disorganized homes and celebrate the Torah, like in a big way, with lots of dancing and singing. Lest I digress, I just wanted to share wtih you my all time favorite centerpiece, a staghorn fern! I’ve been using this very staghorn fern, planted in soil, on my dining room table since Shavuot, namely in May, and I still love it. I’ll admit, when I…

Wishing You A Wonderful Succot Holiday!
I am writing this on Friday, the second day of the 7/8 day Succot holiday, that we just love love love. Okay, it is true, for those of us hosting the friends and relatives it is work, work, work, but the best kind one could ask for truly! Celebrating the holiday of Succot, which among other things is a harvest festival holiday of sorts, in the land of Israel is truly special, and we are truly blessed to have this opportunity to celebrate this special time for the Jewish people together with our community. Since we are all eating and sleeping (some of the family, women are not required) in…

Recycled Magazine Page Feathers
Feathers are such a lovely thing to make out of paper, and with Yom Kippur in just two days, and Succot following four days after that, well there is no time like the present than to whip up some great recycled magazine page feathers yourself! Jewish holidays aside, they’d also look just lovely in a baby’s room if done in pastel colors, and in a child’s room done in brights. Make a really big one and frame it for some gorgeous wall art! (Just thought of that, gotta try it, just wish i had an oblong frame……..) On Yom Kippur we liken ourselves to angels as much as possible, and…

Rosh HaShana Apple, Pomegranite And Carrot Yarn Craft For All Ages
There is something about gluing yarn onto recycled cardboard shapes that is just so much fun, and with great results. So with Rosh Hashana just around the corner, time is of the essence, and this is one craft that is great for all ages, and teh results can then be hung in the succah as well. Okay, you may not want to hang a carrot in your succah, but apples and pomegranites certainly work for both Rosh HaShana and succot, and you can then add some grapes and olives and figs later if you so desire. You very likely don’t recognize this project, as I posted it a whole seven…

Simple Recycled Cardboard Guitar Makes A Fun Addition To Any Party!
For my son's recent guitar themed birthday party I didn't have much of a plan, but I did want to decorate with as many cardboard guitars as i could possibly make in one day, and i just love how these turned out. Simple enough so that you can whip up a bunch, but at the same time really great looking and sophisticated enough to use for adult parties or gatherings of any kind. Make your guitar using a few layers of cardboard, add a strap, and use it as part of a costume or a child's toy. And of course they perfectly compliment the ice cream cone and guiltar party…

Drinking Straw Star Ornament Craft
There is something about colorful jumbo drinking straws that I find simply irresistable, so a few months back on a trip to my favorite Swedish store, I just had to pick up some more straws in a new pastel color range. Fast forward to Hanukkah crafting, and those straws jumped out at me and said "make some drinking straw star ornaments please", and so there you have it! This is a quick craft (once you get the hang of it) with adorable results so make a bunch of these for that Hanukkah party, or hang them around the house! While you are at it, check out my drinking straw hanukkah…
