Egg Carton Flower String Lights
A few weeks ago I shared with you my egg carton star string lights, and now at last I had a chance to take a few quick photos of my egg carton flower LED string lights, which we used at my son's bar mitzvah with great success. My favorites were actually those that i made by dipping the egg carton flowers in paint, but all I could get my hands on at the moment were these simple painted ones, which are much easier to do and a great project for the kids as well. So add a little creativity to your holiday season with this simply fun craft, ready?

Watercolor Fruit Art: Paint The Seven Species
Small works of art using just simply watercolors are so fun to make, and a great project to do in one sitting. In the past I enjoyed painting watercolor fruit with my daughter, and then I realized that if I was going to paint fruit, then certainly I should paint a series of the seven species, hashevat haminim, to give some added meaning to my little project. Not to mention that anything depicting the seven holy species of fruit (plus 2 grains) can be used as a succah decoration, as a decoration for the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat, or of course anytime! It is true, succos is already past,…

Welcome To My Succah, Just A Little Peak!
Tonight we are ushering in the last day of the Jewish holiday of Succot, a very holy and important day called Hoshana Raba. In our community reading of the Book of Devarim, and the book of Tehillim takes place in the synagogue starting at 2am! The morning prayer service then starts at around 6am followed by a special breakfast in the Succah and then for those up most of the night, a long nap! And then………..because seven days of holy celebrating is apparently not enough, we have another holiday back in our homes, the holiday of Simchat Torah! Here in Israel this is only one day, but elsewhere in the…

Accordian Folded Paper Medallions
Accordian folded paper medallions are so simple to make, look great, and may just be the answer to your Succah crafting dilemma right about now? I made around fifty of these medallions in a few sizes and colors and they sure came in handy at my son's bar mitzvah, not to mention that I'm about to decorate our succah with them as well, phew! You can make your medallions as simple as can be, as shown here, or glue a circle or flower shape to the center if you desire, there are no rules and so many possibilities! I'm planning to actually sew these to some of the curtain wall…

Recycling Crafts For The Succah
The glorious Jewish holiday of Succot starts Sunday night, so there is no time like the present as far as using every spare minute to make fabulous decorations for the succah! This year I got a bit of a head start as most of the decorations that I made for my son's bar mitzvah are now going to be put to use in the succah, but preparing for the holiday will feel really strange if I don't make something! So having just taken a look through my archives I put together a little roundup of recycling crafts that are perfect to make now, and likely you'll have many of the…
