Stand Up Tree Craft Is Perfect For Tu B’Shevat!
Isn't this standing tree just the sweetest? Thanks so much to a reader Orit, who sent this in to share what she did with her four year old, love it! They'll be using their tree as a centerpiece this shabbat when we also celebrate the wonderful holiday of Tu B'Shevat, the new year for the trees. This craft is a combination of two projects from the archives, my winter tree from recycled cardboard, and my cherry blossom tree craft. My kids are now hovering around early teens, so they are busy with school work, piano lessons and for some even more learning after school…….so after a long day they are…

Chalkboard DIY Apples
Hey guys, at long last I have jumped on the chalkboard DIY trend, though of course with a twist, true to creativjewishmom style. (And with some upcycling too, as you might expect!) When I picked up a little bottle of acrylic chalkboard paint on our trip to the USA this summer, I knew I'd find a million and one uses for it, but the first really good one is DIY chalkboard apples, just in time for the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat which is the new year for fruit bearing trees. So whether you have some articifial apples of any kind hanging around, or you need to go buy some,…

Egg Carton Flower String Lights
A few weeks ago I shared with you my egg carton star string lights, and now at last I had a chance to take a few quick photos of my egg carton flower LED string lights, which we used at my son's bar mitzvah with great success. My favorites were actually those that i made by dipping the egg carton flowers in paint, but all I could get my hands on at the moment were these simple painted ones, which are much easier to do and a great project for the kids as well. So add a little creativity to your holiday season with this simply fun craft, ready?

Crocheted Rustic Fruit Basket To Make From Old T-Shirts
What can I tell you? I just adore this little crocheted basket that I made using yarn from some of my boy's old t-shirts and striped polo style shirts. And in my humble opiinion one can never really have too many baskets, and fun rustic ones like this add a really nice seasonal touch, especially for fall. Dont you just love persimmons, I'm already lamenting the day when they'll no longer be in season……but I digress. The yarn that I make from t-shirts is never as thin as the commercial t-shirt yarn, which means that you can actually make a much sturdier basket with your cast offs! Like some more…

DIY Star String Lights Using Egg Cartons!
I just love recycling crafts and especially recycling crafts with egg cartons! This simple star LED string lights craft is so simple and with such fantastic results you're gonna love it! Use your egg cartons as is for a natural look, or paint or decorate them, you decide! And the great thing about these lights is that while of course you can use them for chanukah, they'll look great any time of year. Oh and just by the way, I used LED string lights that are battery operated so you can hang them just about anywhere, how fun is that? Okay, Lets get started!

Recycled Cardboard Tube Owls And A Tree
Here my friends is a simple craft for fall, or anytime really, using the simplest of materials with fun results. One can of course use toilet paper tubes to make owls, but this time around I decided to use a paper towel tube to make tow paper towel tube owls! And that fun tree? I used a really thick aluminum foil tube, one of many I have yet to craft with! So there may just be a whole forest coming soon, sounds like so much fun to me, as I have been a bit craft deprived of late. This craft is fun to make with younger kids or an idea…
