Crocheted Vase Using T-Shirt Yarn
A quick crocheted vase using some scraps of t-shirt yarn (to make it super quick!) and either a glass or plastic bottle with a wide mouth is the perfect summer project! Fill your crocheted vase with cuttings from plants, like heart shaped philodendron and pathos that can grow in water, or gather some wild flowers and enjoy. The rustic feeling of the large stitch makes it perfect for use indoors and out, not to mention that this project is a great stash buster, so go ahead and use up all those odds and ends! Come winter a crocheted vase like this is pastel colors looks great filled with branches, but…

Tiered Birthday (Or Wedding) Cake Gift Box
My tiered birthday or wedding cake gift box actually happened a few months ago when I was cleaning for Passover and trying to get rid of stuff. Of course round cardboard boxes aren't something one should throw out, but as they hadn't been put to use for years I kept eyething them for a possible project. And then, yippee, this cake box using packing peanuts as frosting came to mind, and it was made really in a matter of minutes. I think it took longer to actually heat up the glue gun than to put the pieces together, which was fortunate as there really wasn't any free time for crafting…

A DIY Paper Plant That Is Simply Lovely: Agave!
Paper plants are all the rage, and understandably so as they are so simple to make and look amazing. Not to mention great for those who don't have time to take care of the real thing! i happen to have a virtual jungle both indoors and out, but I still appreciate the paper plant idea for its whimsy. There are a lot of folk out there making paper cactuses, but I think I'm the first to make a paper agave. Though many (mostly Australians, where agaves grow in droves) have success growing them in water indoors, the agave is really an outdoor plant, so a paper one certainly is a…

Giant Watercolor Lollipop Costume Prop Or Party Centerpiece
Need a giant lollipop for a costume or maybe a whole bunch to use as centerpieces for a birthday party or even a bat mitzvah? I just made this one for my daughter to use as a prop in a play that was part of her graduation from 8th grade ceremony, and it looks even better from far away! It is true, the results are not what I'd call "perfect" but with all the perfect looking crafts being churned out these days courtesy of cutting machines and ready-cut everything, I'd say it is time to get a little bit imperfect, now and then. Ready to make some giant lollipops? Lets…

Pineapple Pinecone Craft Is My New Favorite!
I have been wanting to make pinecone pineapples for a few months now, and even painted the pinecones yellow before Passover, and finally found the time to give this fantastic summer craft, that would be a perfect summer camp craft a try. And wow, the results are so adorable you'll want to make a whole bunch, I know I do! You can use your pineapple pinecones as decorations for part of a tropical party, or as whiimsical decorations any time. Line up a few on a shelf and you'll smile every time you see them, or hang some mobile style. And of course if you want to be a little…

Paper Leaves On Real Branches For Shavuot Or Any Time!
Paper leaves on real branches is a super quick craft that results in some fun decorations that can be used for the Jewish holiday of Shavuot or really anytime! I actually made these branches as part of the giraffe birthday party that I'm still in the middle of sharing with you all, though I did have in mind that they would be also be great for Shavuot, in which we decorate our homes with greenery to celebrate the giving of the Torah on Mt. Sinai, which was very green and lush. With shavuot staring Saturday night, right after shabbat ends, many of us are now preparing for two days of…
